From the best to the worst ... July 28, 2010 Shyamal Patel I cannot, in good faith, recommend any Nokia product. Nokia seems to be ages behind other phones in terms of both hardware and software. Software wise they are absolutely the worst. Symbian is a joke ... they better switch to Android or come up with something substantially better than what they have now or this company will soon be a piece of history. In my opinion they should stop making phones for developed countries and focus on selling their junk to third world nations.
Nokia 5530 unlocked- Excelent! July 28, 2010 Angie The product arrived in time and in perfect conditions! It was new, had all the items it said it would had, and was unlocked. It worked perfectly with my SIM from Argentina.
I'm very totally satisfied with the purchase.

Good Phone for the Budget July 11, 2010 Joan Page (Washington Metro Area) This Nokia 5530 XpressMusic is an unlocked phone that works well with pay-as-you-go phone plans. I bought a SIM card from a wireless store in London, England for ten pounds (about $16). That gave me a U.K. phone number and a lot of minutes to make calls in England as well as home to the USA. Back in the USA, I bought a T-Mobile pre-paid phone for about $20 at a Best Buy store. I took the SIM card out of the pack and put it in the Nokia 5530. So now I have a phone that's loaded with a lot more features than your typical pay-as-you-go phone.
It's taking me a long time to learn the menus and to navigate the phone -- I don't think it's user-friendly. The touch-screen needs coaxing and the stylus is frequently necessary. The phone must be in "landscape" orientation for QWERTY to be available, but it's still not always available. The handwriting option is cool but it's slow -- I must write each letter individually. It was fairly easy to hook up to my home wireless network and the phone finds other WLAN access points quickly. Also, it has a good e-mail notification tool, although it is difficult to add and edit e-mail accounts. Now my phone is set to check my Comcast e-mail account every 15 minutes, and it's works like a charm on my home wireless network.
The phone has good speakers and the sound is great with a good headset. I am disappointed with the phone as a music player, however. Nokia's music store does not download music to users in the USA. I have not been able to stream music from the Internet, although another reviewer said Pandora's music service works on this phone. I use it as a phone-and-MP3-player. Also, the FM radio gets great reception. Nokia's music organizer ("Ovi Player") is pretty good as MP3 software, but when I tried the "sync" tool I got duplicate songs on the phone.
Back to the subject of the Internet, I created a bookmark for Google. Searching is great, I guess because the "mobile" version of Google opens automatically. However, most Internet pages will not open on the phone. That's because the phone is not fully Java-enabled or something like that (other reviews explain this better). My phone came loaded with a bunch of songs and games that were not to my tastes and they were difficult to remove. On the other hand, my phone has Google Maps with an excellent turn-by-turn directions feature. That's not a GPS, but it has layers and works as a road map.
No wonder this phone is just GREAT! June 3, 2010 Juan Sierra (Maracaibo, VENEZUELA) I thought I was really happy using a Blackberry, but FORTUNATELY, I lost it... I was supposed to buy another BB since I was delighted with all its tasks and applications, but then I decided to have a quick look on other smartphones and I found this one, for a 200$ phone, I thought it was just awesome, and actually IT IS! Its browser does not compare to Blackberry's, nor its screen or awesome EA GAMES (just like a Nintendo or PSP), this is a PHONE!... Music quality is outstanding as well, but if you go beyond and like 3G, buy its elder brother (Nokia 5800)... I have no idea why ppl haven't paid much attention to this phone... I'm glad I got rid of my Blackberry who crashed at least twice a day, now I can have a 900 Mb MPED file in my nokia and it works just as my PC does...
