N86 BLACK 8MP CAM VIDEO MUSIC 3G UNLOCKED GSM

Amazon.com Product Description
The unlocked Nokia N86--the most advanced Nokia imaging device yet--combines a mobile phone and multimedia computer with a true replacement for single purpose point-and-shoot camera. With its 8-megapixel sensor and wide-angle Carl Zeiss optics that are designed to excel in both bright and low light conditions, the N86 offers performance comparable to a standalone digital camera for both still images and video.

The Nokia N86 8MP mobile phone offers performance comparable to a standalone digital camera.
The 3G-enabled N86 offers high-speed connectivity for fast and easy upload of your photos and videos to sharing and social networking sites. Featuring Nokia's iconic 2-way slider phone design, the nicely pocketable N86 is also ideal for playing games downloaded from the N-Gage gaming site. The integrated Assisted GPS shows where you are, while the Nokia Maps application and compass help you find where you need to go.

Key Features
  • High-speed 3G connectivity (HSDPA 3.6 Mbps download)
  • 8-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, 20x digital zoom
  • VGA video recording, 30fps
  • Assisted GPS & Nokia Maps
  • Bluetooth stereo music
  • Wi-Fi networking (802.11b/g)
  • 8 GB memory, microSD expansion to 16 GB
  • SMS/MMS messaging and personal email
  • N-Gage downloadable games
The quad-band Nokia N86 GSM/EDGE phone makes it easy to roam globally and stay in touch with voice and text messaging, and this model is also ready to run on 3G networks here in the US (850/1900 MHz HSDPA) as well as those in Europe and Asia (2100 MHz HSDPA), enabling fast downloads and streaming multimedia while on the go. It also includes integrated Wi-Fi connectivity (802.11b/g) for accessing open networks at work, at home, and on the road from a variety of wireless hotspots. You'll also be able to connect to a wide variety of peripherals--including stereo headphones--with the Bluetooth 2.0+EDR capabilities.

It's based on S60 software operating on the Symbian OS, enabling you to personalize the N86 by choosing from a wide choice of compatible applications that can be downloaded--including games, navigation, entertainment, and productivity titles. Other features include an internal 8 GB memory, hot-swappable microSD memory card slot (for optional cards up to 16 GB), 2.6-inch display that auto-orients itself depending on how the device is held, and up to 6.3 hours of GSM talk time (3.9 hours on 3G networks).

Unlocked Phone
This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides quad-band connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card for usage with your selected service provider.

Additionally, this phone can be paired with 850/1900 MHz UMTS/HSDPA 3G networks in the United States (as well as 2100 MHz 3G networks found around the world, including in Europe and Asia). When paired with a compatible 3G network, you'll enjoy a high-speed connection offering a variety of feature-rich wireless services--from data connectivity to your office to multimedia streaming, and take advantage of simultaneous voice and data services. In areas not served by a 3G network, you'll continue to receive data service via EDGE network (depending on network compatibility).

Phone Features
The Nokia N86 has an innovative 2.6-inch AMOLED (active matrix organic light-emitting diode) screen that reproduces sharper and brighter colors with better battery consumption. It has a 240 x 320-pixel resolution with support for up to 16.7 million colors for terrific depth when viewing photos or playing immersive 3D games. The screen also offers automatic rotation based on the integrated accelerometer. The innovative 2-way slide concept makes it easy to switch between different modes, going from reading maps to watching a video with a simple slide. A numeric keypad slides out from one end of the device while dedicated media keys slide out from the opposite direction, converting the display into full screen landscape mode. The phone has an internal 8 GB memory, which can be expanded via optional microSD memory cards up to 16 GB in size

Play the hottest games with superior gameplay and graphics from N-Gage.

Take high-quality pics with the 8-megapixel camera with auto focus, flash and Carl Zeiss optics.

Store your photos with the 8 GB of internal memory and view them using the OLED display and kickstand.
Easy enough for a novice to use, the Nokia N86 packs enough punch to impress an experienced photographer. This includes a wide-angle Carl Zeiss Tessar lens for panoramic pictures, shorter latencies and variable aperture for super sharp photos in challenging bright and low light conditions. The fast mechanical shutter ensures pictures with less motion blur while the dual LED flash is powerful enough for excellent photography and video capture.

The still camera has a 20x digital zoom, center weighted auto exposure, white balance controls, light sensitivity modes, multiple scene modes (including portrait, landscape, sport, and night). The Carl Zeiss Tessar lens has a 4.61mm focal length and a focus range as close as 10cm. (The Zeiss name has been associated with cameras from Hasselblad, Rollei, Yashica, Sony, and Nikon.) The dual LED flash offers several modes (on, off, automatic, and red-eye reduction) and it has an operating range of 10 feet. Other features include a full-screen viewfinder, dedicated camera key, built-in photo editor, and direct printing to compatible printers. Further, with the integrated A-GPS, you can now geotag pictures with location data and share them with online communities.

The main lens also captures DVD-like quality video at 30 frames per second and VGA resolution (640 x 480 pixels). It features up to an 8x digital zoom, image stabilization, multiple recording file formats (mp4, .3gp; H.263, H.264), video white balance modes, and a built-in video editor. Clip length is capped at 90 minutes. The lens on the front can capture video at up to 352 x 288 pixels (CIF) and up to 15 fps, and it has a 2x digital zoom.

This smartphone has an integrated Wi-Fi LAN (802.11b/g), enabling seamless connectivity with wireless networks at work, at home, and on the roam via Wi-Fi hotspots at airports and coffee shops. Because the N86 is Bluetooth enabled (with version 2.0+EDR), wireless communication headsets can be configured with the phone for total hands-free operation. It also offers Bluetooth stereo audio support (A2DP), enabling you to enjoy your music without any wires. If your laptop is Bluetooth enabled, you can connect wirelessly and enjoy dial-up networking (DUN)--surf the Internet, send email, and access files from a server.

With A-GPS functionality, you'll be able find your route quickly and easily, whether walking or driving (A-GPS is a network dependent feature that requires a data plan; additional charges may apply). The Nokia Maps application offers richer maps with urban details and satellite views and the ability to search and download information about points of interests, such as restaurants, hotels, companies, travel agencies, airports, and more. It also provides optional upgrades such as City Guides, turn-by-turn pedestrian mode and voice-guided car navigation.

View web pages as they were originally intended with the integrated Nokia Web Browser, which enables you to zoom out to a full screen view of the entire page using the Mini Map feature. Find the section you want and then zoom in to the content you need. The text instantly adjusts to the size of your screen. The browser also keeps a history of your browsing so you can quickly get back to where you started.

4 out of 5 stars Review of the Nokia N86   March 13, 2010

The Nokia N86 Phone is a good phone in general and I must say it stands out against some of the others. The best way to describe what I think of the phone is to list its pros and cons.

Pros:
- Good quality build and better made than the other phones I have seen or owned. The phone is not flimsy and doesn't seem to be made of cheap plastic.
- Buttons are also firm and reflect a good quality design.
- Plenty of tools and apps to keep you busy. I think the applications are in line of what you expect of an advanced phone like this. All the regular software (email, calendar, Media player, etc.)
- Very nice display and crisp. The images you take with the camera have an amazing clarity when you view them in the display.
- I like the fact that phone has two cameras. One for taking pictures (on the back of the phone), and the other is active when you take a picture of yourself (like when you are chatting).
- The menu is somewhat intuitive to use and you could get around without a manual.
- The sound quality (from the headset) when playing music is good and it is close to what you get from an iPod (and better than my blackberry).
- WLAN works very well and doesn't have problems picking up available WAP nodes.
- I am impressed with all the hidden sensors the phone has that turn certain functions in the phone automatically. For instance, when you flip open the stand on the back of the phone, it automatically switches to picture viewing mode. I have always wanted a stand like that for my iTouch iPod when I am on the plane and trying to view a movie.
- I like the fact that it has a built-in dictionary and you don't have to be online to use it.

Cons:
- Somewhat heavy but it also reflects on the quality of the shell.
- Too many menu clicks to do some of the frequent and simple tasks. The menu is rich but might take several levels to do something basic.
- Minimal useful games out of the box - odd for a phone with this price.
- I don't like the fact that you can't control the different sound settings for the various functions of the phone. For instance, I still can't find a way to control the volume for the notification of incoming SMS messages. It's somewhat annoying in meetings when you think set the volume of the ring to a vibrate and then a very loud notification comes on when you have a message. It forces you to switch to meeting mode all the time if you don't want to hear that. My previous Sony Ericsson allowed me to control a lot more and to configure what I want to hear for several functions.
- The GPS is very moody. I wouldn't rely on it and I wouldn't buy this phone if the GPS is a MUST have feature.
- For some reason, the phone doesn't always charge when you plug it to a USB connection. It works about 50% of the times. I noticed that if you shut it off completely while plugged, it will charge.
- Battery life is not great, but I guess you would expect from a phone with all the bells and whistles.

5 out of 5 stars Great Phone   March 7, 2010

This is a great Nokia phone. In the past I've had 1112, 5310, N79 and this N86. The pic quality is just amazing. The screen is great. Many features. Recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Here is the Best of the Best!!!! Sir!   February 9, 2010
Nel's Reviews (Hamilton, NJ)
With all the reviews on Amazon I have decided not to reiterate all the features the phone has because it has all been said already. What I will do is mention all the features I have used on the N86 8MP and the ones I have added. My husband has the N95 8GB and I thought it was a GREAT phone until I got the N86 8MP. I got the phone as a Christmas gift from my hubby and immediately added Melon Mobile's Advance Call manager application to my phone. My sole purpose for this symbian phone was to have the ability to CHOOSE who can call me and that is how that software came into play. For those who are looking to have a way that your phone will ring ONLY for those you allow to call you (from your contact list) the Advance Call manager application has resolved that issue for me. Also as with some cell phones you can also turn on the fix dialing feature, so if you leave your phone accidently somewhere no one can make calls on your phone. When the fixed dialing is activated on the phone, only the phone numbers on your contact list can be dialed out (including the 911 emergency numbers). Adding and removing applications from the N86 8MP is a breeze also especially if you like Themes on your phone.
The camera does a fabulous job in taking pictures as well as videos. I have no complaints about that feature. When photos are taken they are saved in the GALLEY application on the phone so it is so easy to find all the photos, video clips, songs, and sound clips there.
The FM radio on the phone is great to have...just plug in the ear buds and search for your local stations with out an extra charge from your service provider.
I can't say anything about the texting or internet portion of the phone because they are not features I use but I have noticed a Facebook application on the phone for those who do surf the web.
The audio on the phone is better than my late Samsung A777. When I receive calls I can hear the person on my N86 8MP loud and clear. The speaker phone is just as good also. I only wish they had added four speakers on the N86 8MP instead of just the two.
The N868MP is a slick phone and not light weight...which is ok for me.
If you are looking for a Symbian phone with a Great camera....the N86 8MP is the phone.
