1 out of 5 stars Zagg invisibleSHIELD, not worth the money   September 8, 2010
Consumer123 (Charlotte, NC)
I purchased the invisible shield for an iPhone 4 and I would not recomend it. I followed the installation instructions exactly as stated however the shiled started to peel off. When I recieved a reply from ZAGG they told me there is a known issue as stated by Dez G in customer service:

"The new glass used on the iPhone 4 requires additional time for the adhesive on the invisibleSHIELD to fully cure. I recommend, after the initial 12-24 of allowing your phone to remain off immediately following installation of your invisibleSHIELD, that you are cautious in your use during the balance of the first week. By cautious, I am referring to avoiding things such as placing your phone in pockets, cases, or other tight spaces, and avoiding exposure to heat.
This additional time, again, is to allow your invisibleSHIELD to fully cure to the new glass used on the iPhone 4."

So to have it replaced I have to pay for shipping as well as pay to return my old shield which I disguarded, so I think I will purchase several less expensive screen protectors which will probably work much better.ZAGG invisibleSHIELD for Apple iPhone 4 (Screen)

1 out of 5 stars Hate This Thing!   September 7, 2010
S. Simon (Los Angeles, ca)
I don't typically write reviews, but I want to make sure I get my opinion out for this product. I had invisible shield for the palm pre, and really enjoyed it. When I got my iPhone 4, I made sure to install invisible shield on it asap. I had Best Buy install it for me, and I was initially a little disappointed at the roughness of the film (didnt really notice it as much with the pre, and the distortion when the screen was white. I could live with all of these things, but I couldn't live with the bubbles than appeared 3 days after the installation. I had 3 different people at best buy install it... they all looked perfect for a day or two, but then looked terrible after. It also clings onto any "gunk" in your pocket, which makes it even less invisible. I called customer service and asked them for advice, and all they suggested was getting a replacement for a small fee via Zagg (I guess they didn't put 2+ 2 together and figure out that I exchanged it 3 times at Best buy). Terrible product, terrible customer service... just don't get it. It obviously is not worth the money.

2 out of 5 stars InvisibleShield does not endure   September 6, 2010
ED78 (Fayetteville, GA United States)
Within a matter of a couple of days this shield was useless. My husband keeps his phone in his pocket. Just the friction from the material in his pocket caused this shield to curl up on the corners and peel right off the phone. Do not waste your money!!!

1 out of 5 stars Welcome to Installation Hell...   September 3, 2010

Let me start off by bottom lining it for you: If you are meticulous and detail-oriented when it comes to your iPhone 4, just move on: Installing this Invisible Shield screen protector is a miserable, frustrating experience that is nearly impossible to get perfect and can potentially damage your new iPhone. And if you aren't that picky, there are perfectly serviceable protectors for half the price. Think I'm just a whiner with unrealistic expectations for this accessory? Read on and decide for yourself.

I'm a very detail-oriented person. I read instructions. I'm careful with stuff like this. As a result, I'm usually successful. Not with this product.

To install it you first have to spray your fingers with a special liquid. Let your fingers dry out and it's over. Best case, you'll have permanent finger prints showing through the Invisible Shield protector; worst case the protector will end up stuck to you instead of your new iPhone 4.

Peeling the Invisible Shield protector off of the backing is a challenge in and of itself. In my case, the openings for the ear hole and the home button were not completely cut out so where I pulled them apart, I created a small stretch in the protector which became a permanent blemish once the installation was complete.

After the Invisible Shield protector is freed from its backing, it must also be sprayed liberally with the special liquid. The end result is a drippy mess. Expect the special solution to get into your iPhone around the ear hole and home button. With luck, you won't get enough liquid in there to short anything out. You could always cut back on the amount of liquid you use...if you don't mind fingerprints.

So now you've got wet fingers (hopefully), and a wet drippy protector that needs to be applied to your shiny new iPhone 4. Just carefully line up one edge and use the supplied squeegee to spread it out over the screen for a perfect fit, right? Wrong. The Invisible Shield protector stretches, so a properly aligned edge on one side does not necessarily mean a properly aligned edge on the other side. The instructions suggest that you can slide a slightly misaligned protector into correct position but the reality is that you end up stretching it, not sliding it, and the circle around the home button becomes an oval, or one side is perfect and the other side is actually hanging over the edge of the screen.

Did I mention that this isn't my first time installing one of these protectors? I'm not a newbie at it. My first attempt was with a smaller Invisible Shield protector that had no holes in it. That installation went fairly well. It is the ear and home button openings in this protector that make this install much harder to get right.

You might think, given the general consensus that this product is hell to install, that Zagg would give you two Invisible Shields in case you mess up. You would be wrong. Instead, they offer a lifetime replacement policy - free replacements for life. Sounds good, right? Mess up and you can just ask for another one. Actually, no. It turns out that their free lifetime replacement policy does not cover replacements due to unsuccessful installation attempts - only damage from regular use or repair. And the free replacement requires a credit card. That's right. You pay first class postage which, in the world of Zagg, is $3.95. I wonder why I only have to pay 44 cents to mail the old one back. Someone should tell them they're getting ripped off.

To be fair, when this product is perfectly installed it looks great. (And I've seen this exactly once. The guy was an employee at the AT&T Store.) The Invisible Shield protector is clear but not reflective due to a slight orange peel texture. It isn't perfect - your fingers don't slide across it easily like they do on an unprotected screen - but all in all it's a nice product. It's easy to imagine that if Zagg included two Invisible Shields in the package and figured out a way to make it a little easier to install, my recommendation might be very different. But back in the real world, the Invisible Shield screen protector isn't so much better than everything else out there that it is worth the money or the hassle. Not even close.

1 out of 5 stars Makes the screen so BAD   August 30, 2010
Praveen Kumar Vairavan (Stamford, CT USA)
The screen starts to look so bad, you wonder if you are using a retina display. it feels like something very thick between your finger and the screen.
I got a in-case protective screen for under 10 bucks and its so much better !
