Good case but... September 9, 2010

I've always used Otterbox case's and think they are one of the best out there. The new one I got for the iPhone4 is just as good except for one thing, the hole for the headphone jack is in the wrong spot. It is actually to the right of the jack over a little pin hole. So you have to pull that flap up to use the headphones.

I'm an apple fanboy, and I'm not spending that much on an electronic without trying to take extensive care of it, after searching I found this case, which protects the whole thing, even the screen! Yeah it doubles the thickness of it, but I don't mind at all, still looks sleek and super sickkkk! ha :] I totally recommend it!

Your sexy slim iPhone will look like a hummer instead of a sports car, but if you drop it you will be thankful for this case. Even the screen is behind a cover but the touch sensitivity still works! I will take it out when I sell it. A bit heavy to run 10k but put your shirt tucked behind for padding and it is fine. Also with flip openings for the jacks it is pretty water-resistant.

I got my first otterbox defender case to protect my 3G and it was expertly designed in my opinion. The new design for the iPhone4 is probably rugged enough for most people but there is one major flaw with this model that previous models addressed. There is no longer a protective fabric covering the speakers/mic at the bottom and top and the earpiece speaker is not covered. This allows dust to enter the phone with no resistance at these locations. Working in a woodworking shop or similar type conditions is now something I have to think about when wearing my phone at my side because all that fine dust can very easily work it's way into these 4 openings.
I find the overall case design still quite rugged and probably the best protection you can buy for your phone but if you work in dusty environments this case doesn't offer the near bullet proof protection of previous versions. The holster also takes some getting used to and feels a little clumsy and obtrusive compared to previous models.

WhyMe?
I previously had the OtterBox Defender Case for iPhone 3G, 3G S (Black) and it is very similar to this one. If you had the one for 3 or 3G, then you already know how great the OtterBox is. The only issue I have found is that the slot in the rubber for the earphone plug is misaligned. I have to open the rubber flap to insert the earphones. I also wanted to mention that the hard shell is also easier to open then earlier versions.
I recommend this case to anyone who has the iphone 4.
