Best I have ever used September 5, 2010 dgraves Simply the best headset I have ever used. I purchased a set of Jabra gels at the same time and the conbination is perfect. I actually forget it is there. The updating from the Jawbone mytalk website is effortless. Works perfectly with my Blackberry Bold 9650. Noise Assassin is simply amazing.
Inconsisent August 29, 2010 iPad User Quality of voice outbound is very inconsistent. Inbound is really good but get constant complaints that I can't be heard when talking. Hard to get it properly positioned. Bought this as a replacement when my Jawbone 2 basically broke. Have now found a source for Jawbone 2 replacement, ordered it, received it and am very happy. Not sure how to get my money back for the Icon. Great idea, just doesn't work for me.
Great Bluetooth Headset1 August 23, 2010 beam1061 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ordered this after I lost my old Bluetooth headset. Wish I had ordered a jawbone a couple of years ago. The sound quality is incredible. I ordered a replacement ear bud (Jabra Eargels for Aliph Jawbone Icon The Thinker) because I found the included ear piece to be uncomfortable. Now I often leave the Bluetooth in my ear even when I am not on the phone because I simply forget that it is even there. If you are looking for a new Bluetooth I highly recommend getting a Jawbone.
Sound quality much poorer than expected. August 19, 2010 David Burns (Wisconsin, USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is my second attempt at using a Jawbone. I tried a Jawbone 2 when it first came out and found it impossible to get it to fit properly. So I returned it. After the raves for the Icon, along with indications that it has improved fit over previous designs, I decided to take another chance when I needed to get a second headset to carry in my car. My reason for trying it was that with all of the claims about the sound quality, I was hoping it would offer an improved experience with conference calls at work when working from home. The Plantronics 975 that I've been using does a good job, but I decided to see if I could get an even better one. My plan was to replace the Plantronics that I use at home with the Icon and carry the Plantronics in the car.
When I received the Icon, I was very pleased to see that the fit problems were a thing of the past... fit went from impossible with the Jawbone 2 to excellent with the Icon. Then I went on to actual usage. I tried it on 2 different conference calls the day I received it. To say that I was disappointed is an understatement. With the first call, I immediately noticed that I was having problems hearing anyone who wasn't very near to the phone on the other end. The voices of those people would fade in and out constantly. I tried playing around with the phone's volume with no improvement. I was able to switch from the Icon to the Plantronics part way through the call, and the sound quality on my end with the Plantronics was dramatically better... fading wasn't a problem at all and I could hear everyone in the room. The phone on the conference call end was a full duplex phone, designed specifically for good conference call performance.
Since I didn't want to base a conclusion on one test, I tried the Icon on a second call that was in a different room at work, thus a different phone. I started with the Icon and had the same problem with voices fading in and out. A switch mid-call to the Plantronics resolved that issue and allowed me to participate effectively in the meeting.
Now, I do realize that the Jawbone's claim to sound quality fame mostly deals with the sound quality of speech that the folks on the other end of the line experience. But I certainly expected that they'd put in the effort to make a high quality listening experience as well. That the Icon fell so short in that respect as compared to the Plantronics took me completely by surprise.
I submitted the return for the Icon at the end of that work day. I'm going to order another Plantronics 975 as my "car unit". I had high hopes for the Icon, but it definitely didn't live up to them.
Awesome August 11, 2010 G-Radio I've never had a bluetooth earpiece that was the in-ear kind, but I was so surprised on how well this one stayed in. It actually stay's in my ear better than my old over-the-ear kind. The call reception is great and everyone says they can't even tell i'm on a headset.
If you connect it to your computer, you can download the A2DP Profile, as well as different voices.
Overall I love this headset.
